Partners
Through a cooperative agreement the City of Grass Valley Fire Department (GVFD), the City of Nevada City Fire Department (NCFD), and the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District (NCC) form a JOA (Joint Operational Area). By utilizing the JOA crews from the three agencies work together, train together, and have common operations and policies to make incidents run smoothly, which provides a high level of service. Firefighters from all three agencies are able to work at all 7 stations maintaining staffing and service to the communities in which we serve. Speciality apparatus are also available to all three agencies via the JOA agreement. NCC operates a light rescue, two water tenders, and a type 3 fire engine which can be utilized throughout the county. NCFD operates a type 3 fire engine and GVFD operates a aerial ladder truck and a California OES type 1 engine/light rescue.
